DigiLocker's e-copies of your driving license and vehicle registration certificate are now considered as valid documents. If you break the traffic rules, there is no need for physical seizure of such documents.

Who wants to risk the loss or damage to important documents like driving license, voter identity card or education certificate? Now keep all such documents safely inside your home and easily place e-copies on your phone using the DigiLocker mobile app.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has written to State Transport Departments in the form of valid documents similar to the original rights of e-copies of driving licenses and e-copies of vehicle registration certificate in the Digilator or MPVahan App. However, sometimes the traffic police or motor vehicle department does not consider such documents as legitimate. This is especially in cases where someone has broken the traffic rules for which the documents should be imposed by the traffic department.

The Ministry has now clarified that such an insult can also be reflected electronically through the Vaahan / Sarathi database through the e-challan system. The Ministry said in a circular, "There will be no need for material seizure of such documents."

What is digiLocker?

Available on both websites and mobile apps, DigiLocker has nothing besides digital lockers to store all your documents. Due to both Aadhar card and cell phone number, DigiLocker terminates the use of physical documents as part of government's Digital India drive because all the data is stored in the cloud.

You can upload a scanned copy of your documents (PDF, JPEG or PNG format) and access it anywhere. You can also e-sign these uploaded documents, which act as self-certification of physical documents.

On the other hand, organizations like CBSE, Registrar's office or Income Tax Department can push electronic copies of documents and certificates directly into your e-lockers.

Organizations registered with the Declarator include the various school boards including the UIDAI, the Road Transport, and Highways Ministry, the Income Tax Department, the CBSE and the departments of various state and central government ministries.

According to the latest data, the Digital Miller has 1.35 million users, who use it for PAN card, Mark Sheets, caste certificate, birth certificate, ration card, etc.

1. Visit the DigiLocker website or download the DigiLocker app on your smartphone. By using your base number and mobile number, you can create a user ID using an OTP.

2. If some organization has uploaded any of your e-documents, you can see it in the account. You can also upload your documents and e-sign them.

3. You also get the opportunity to share documents with e-Documents, share documents with others.
